World Food Day 2021

WFD 2021

This Saturday, on 16 October, we are celebrating World Food Day 2021! Please find below a series of assets and resources you can engage with on this crucial day for our food systems and good food for all.

  1. General Assets

World Food Day’s global impact would not be possible without the efforts of FAO offices and your partnerships with cities, TV stations, outdoor advertisers, transport networks, retail outlets, airports, shopping centres etc. The 30-second version of the WFD promo video is ready to be shared (original files in Asset Bank) and placed with partners. If you secure a pro bono agreement, we can support you, adapting the video to the format/language needed. Drop us a message at (1-min version that is more appropriate for events is coming soon!)

Check out the #FoodHeroesDance challenge on TikTok , Instagram and Douyin (for colleagues in China) and get involved! Challenge influencers, your friends and family! We want you to replicate the dance or put your own spin on it using the Food Heroes song as a call to action this #WorldFoodDay. The full song will be unveiled with a music video on 5 October during the Junior World Food Day event (more info below).

A multi-panel package of World Food Day content featuring the theme and a selection of Food Heroes to promote the campaign at any venue is available at this link in Asset Bank. The package includes customizable panels for you to add local Food Heroes to your event.

Beans and eggs. Two everyday ingredients – but both have an extraordinary power.

That’s because they’re both examples of good food. They’re accessible to people worldwide, they’re nutritious, and they’re full of potential – they bring people together, and they fuel our futures.

Our two beautiful new films tell that story. Beans and eggs are just two of the world’s star ⭐️  ingredients – what are yours? Access the two films here and preview the assets below.

Every year, a large number of events – from marathons and hunger marches, to exhibitions, cultural performances, contests and concerts – are organised in up to 150 countries across the world to celebrate World Food Day. You can already post your event or a partner’s one on the WFD website. Fill out the form and in a couple of days it will be published on our website.
